Answers worthy of our saffron

Everything you may wish to know about selecting and using your Super Negin threads, from daily wellness rituals and refined gifting to professional HoReCa service, delivery, and care.

Authenticity & Quality

Super Negin is the highest grade of Persian saffron only the deep-red tip of the stigma, cut clean, with no yellow or orange base to dilute it. It carries the fullest colour, the deepest aroma, and the most pronounced flavour of any grade, which is why it is prized the world over. Every Ruwais jar holds nothing but Super Negin threads.

Ruwais Saffron is pure saffron and nothing else never dyed, never blended, never diminished. Our facility is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018, and HACCP, the international standards that govern how fine food is handled, packed, and preserved. Every batch is inspected by hand before it is sealed, so only whole Super Negin threads reach your table.

Rest a few threads in warm water and watch. True saffron gives up its colour slowly, a deepening gold drawn out over minutes while the threads themselves hold their crimson. Imitations betray themselves at once, bleeding colour in seconds as the threads turn pale. It is a quiet test, and Ruwais passes it every time.

Each crocus flower offers only three delicate stigmas, gathered by hand at dawn across a season that lasts mere weeks. Nearly 150,000 blooms are needed for a single kilogram among the most labour-intensive harvests on earth. With Super Negin, you receive only the finest part of that harvest, and its rarity is reflected in every thread.

Our saffron is grown in Persia, the historic heartland of the world's finest saffron, and chosen specifically for the Super Negin grade. It is then packed and quality-controlled in Qatar under our certified food-safety standards, authentic in origin and impeccable in handling.

Usage & Storage

Let it bloom first. Grind the threads lightly, then steep them in a few spoonfuls of warm water, milk, or broth for ten to fifteen minutes before they meet your dish. This coaxes out the full colour and aroma. Threads added dry give only a fraction of what they hold, and of what you paid for.

A little carries far. For a rice dish serving four to six, fifteen to twenty threads (a generous pinch) is all it takes. Studies commonly regard around 28 to 30mg a day, roughly fifteen threads, as well within the bounds of safe daily enjoyment. More rarely deepens the result; with saffron this fine, restraint is its own reward.

Kept well, saffron holds its character for two to three years. Its aroma mellows gently with time, so to experience it at its most expressive, we suggest enjoying it within a year of opening.

Keep your saffron in its sealed container, away from light, heat, and moisture. A cool cupboard suits it far better than the refrigerator. Light and humidity are its only true adversaries; shielded from both, it keeps its brilliance.

Health & Dietary

Saffron has been treasured in wellness traditions for centuries and is naturally rich in antioxidant compounds such as crocin and safranal. Many enjoy it daily, stirred into tea or warm milk as a quiet ritual. We share this in the spirit of heritage and food knowledge, not as medical advice.

The 1g jar is a graceful introduction to Super Negin, or a small and elegant gift. Those who cook with saffron often settle on the 10g or 25g, while the 50g to 250g sizes are suited to larger households, generous hosts, and professional kitchens.
